1 hurt, apartments blazed in Detroit fire
Detroit -- More than 10 fire trucks and five ambulances are on the scene Saturday morning at a three-alarm fire near Highland Park.
Detroit Fire Chief Michael Jefferson said the fire started on the third floor of the apartment complex at the corner of Woodward and Woodland but the cause is still unknown.
The fire quickly spread to the fourth floor where people were trapped in an apartment. Jefferson said firefighters were able to remove them safely, but the fire burned up the entire third floor.
Jefferson said many residents suffered from smoke inhalation and one person was injured jumping from the building to escape the fire. His condition is unknown.
Hamtramck Fire Department assisted in battling the blaze.
